Our Teaching Staff
We are so proud of our teaching staff. They are dedicated professionals who are committed to the education of young children. And, most importantly, they are warm, loving and nurturing and have the ability to be playful. These four ingredients are most important in building successful relationships with the children in their care.
Our teachers understand that the early attitudes children develop about school will follow them through their academic years. To foster a positive and enjoyable feeling about school and learning, our teachers provide a setting whereby children have fun all the while gaining the skills necessary for long-term educational success. In addition to supporting children’s academic success, teachers also work to ensure a child’s self-confidence and continued sense of curiosity and creativity.
Hello! My name is Briana and I am the Assistant Director here at Heritage Learning Academy. I have a degree in child development. Before I came here, I taught preschool for 8 years. I love watching the kids as they discover new things, or finally figure out how to do something that they have been practicing. I love that no matter what kind of day you are having the children can always make you laugh. I am deeply committed to the care and education of children. I cannot imagine doing anything else.
Hello, my name is Angela Kenyon and I am a teacher in the Infant A room. I was born in Minnesota and moved to Texas in 1976. I have six amazing children ranging in ages from 24-28. I worked many years as an Administrative Assistant and decided to work at Heritage Learning Academy, enjoying my true passion – loving and nurturing all the babies that are entrusted to my care. I want every parent to take comfort in knowing that when their child is left in my care, I will shower them with love, attention and nurturing as if they were my own child.

Hello! My name is Courtney Hicks. I have been a teacher at Heritage Learning Academy since September 2010. I graduated from The Colony High School in 2009. I really enjoy watching children learn and grow. I am the Preschool teacher and my goal is to work with children to help them develop a beginning understanding of basic math, literacy and science concepts. Even though they are only three years old, each of my children loves learning new things every day. They are often eager and excited and it is wonderful to watch. Coming to work and seeing the children’s smiling faces and eagerness to learn inspires me to be the best teacher I can. I couldn’t ask for a more rewarding job!

I’ve worked in childcare for almost 4 years now and one thing is for sure, I love the babies! There is nothing like being able to watch them grow and to watch them develop. It seems they do new things every day! I look forward to meeting all the families at HLA and I know you’ve chosen a great place for your child.

Hello! My name is Du Ra Lee. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in education from Dongguk University and worked in the educational field for 5 years in Korea. I moved USA in 2003. My husband and I have two children, Jason and Jamie. After coming to America, I worked as a bilingual teacher in a preschool. During that time, I attended Collin College where I focused on the Montessori learning philosophy for young learning. I truly believe a good educational environment is the most fundamental element for the children’s future. I believe children should be respected for the unique persons they are and that my support as their teacher will connect them to a self-initiated, life-long love of learning. I really enjoy helping the children learn and grow and I am so happy to be part of Heritage Learning Academy and be a part in this valuable journey.
Hello! My name is Hope Hightower and I'm an Infant teacher at Heritage Learning Academy. I graduated from The Colony High School and, as early as I can remember, I've loved babies. I love seeing their little wheels turn in their heads when they discover and explore new things. Outside of Heritage I love to read, listen to music, and most importantly, serve and give back to my community. I attend church at Serenity Church and am fortunate enough to be the Pastor's daughter. I am so honored to connect with and care for your sons and daughters!
Hello my name is Jessica and I am a Pre-Kindergarten teacher at Heritage Learning Academy. I graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 2014 with a Fashion Merchandising and Marketing degree. Most of my work experience has been in retail, however, I love being immersed in the amazing and beautiful world of 4and 5 year old children and preparing them for kindergarten. I have realized in my time working here that they can teach us as much as we teach them. Believe it or not they have helped me master the art of patience which has become beneficial in my daily affairs outside of work. My favorite thing about being a teacher is seeing or hearing one of our children apply the skills that we have taught them and seeing the excitement on their face. I feel like the children allow me to be myself and to get in touch with my inner child. I have met so many smart, energetic, and unique kids during my time here and it is a pleasure to be part of the HLA team. I think we are an awesome staff with incredible passion for each individual child.
